A Secret Chord: Leonard Cohen’s Sacred/Secular Songs  
Presentation and Generative Writer’s Workshop by poet and novelist Amy Gottlieb

Many of Leonard Cohen’s song lyrics are woven with references to the Bible and Jewish liturgy. In this interactive discussion, Amy will lead us in unpacking a few songs, and looking at how Cohen wrestles poetically with Jewish texts and theology. Our discussion will conclude with a generative writing workshop using prompts from Cohen's song lyrics.  

Amy Gottlieb is a novelist and poet. Her debut novel, The Beautiful Possible, was a finalist for a National Jewish Book Award, the Harold Ribalow Prize, and the Wallant Award. She lives in New York City and often visits San Miguel de Allende.
