Researching the history of my Central European family has been one of the most rewarding and frustrating tasks that I have ever undertaken. The one thing that I have learned is that you have to have a plan.

Dr. Kord is a psychologist who has been researching his Habsburg family over the past decade. Starting only with his parents, he has discovered almost 6,000 family members throughout the world.

Session 1

Learn what you need to know before starting your research: understanding multiple Jewish names, changeable place names, how to stop worrying about spelling and dates. “My grandfather was a Polish Jew” and other fallacies.
