First Saturday Jewish Studies Class for 6-12 Year Olds

Your children will love the warmth and fun they experience learning about Judaism with Teddy Kisel.

Term 1: February - April 2025 (Shevat - Nisan) Central themes: Jewish identity, home, holidays.  We will introduce basic daily blessings, for eating, washing hands, Shabbat blessings and songs.

Meeting with parents Thursday, January 30 – Sh'vat., 7:30 p.m.

Class 1: February 1 (3 Shevat 5785)

📖 Topic: What Does It Mean to Be Jewish? What Is the Shema?
🎭 Activities:

  • Icebreaker game using Jewish symbols (kippah, mezuzah, Star of David, etc.)

  • Create a mural: “Being Jewish Starts at Home.”

  • Group activity: “Judaism in My Life” (drawing a Jewish family).

  • Discuss: What is the Shema Israel?

  • Practice reciting the Shema with respect and honor.

Note: Class will be in Spanish.
