Israel’s Post Election Reality: The End of a Liberal Democracy or Necessary Reforms?

A discussion on the most recent election and the current political climate in Israel

Professor Jon Allen, former Canadian ambassador to Israel and Spain is currently a Senior Fellow at the University of Toronto. Professor Allen will describe the main players, the policies proposed by the governing coalition, and the likely implications of those policies for the future of democracy in Israel. As large-scale protests have emerged against the government’s proposals, Professor Allen will ask whether the coalition won a sufficiently large mandate to introduce such radical reforms. The talk will be followed by a Q&A that should prove to be thought provoking.
