Weekly San Miguel Discussion Group - Death: The Workshop

  • JC3/Chesma 47 Calle De Las Moras San Miguel de Allende, Gto., 37700 Mexico (map)

A discussion group founded by Ed Wohlrab with Arturo Kalfus is meeting these days in the comfort of the JC3 air-conditioned space.  Each Tuesday a volunteer facilitator introduces a thought-provoking topic with the intention of generating respectful and illuminating conversation. Join us over cookies, coffee or tea to meet and connect with neighbors and friends. We do ask that participants avoid political topics. To date topics of discussion have included philosophical and sociological discussions of happiness, courage and giving back to our communities.

This week’s topic will be Through a Female Lens presented by Amy Cotler and Phyllis Meyers

In a vigorous discussion, we’ll examine the myriad ways women see the world, while also considering the differences between their view and male and non- binary perspectives. Numerous quotes will be presented to enliven discussion. Here are a few to get your juices flowing —

  • “No matter what the fight, don't be ladylike! God almighty made women and the Rockefeller gang of thieves made the ladies.” Mother Jones

  • Of all the nasty outcomes predicted for women's liberation...none was more alarming than the suggestion that women would eventually become just like men.”  Barbara Ehrenreich
