A discussion group founded by Ed Wohlrab with Arturo Kalfus is meeting these days in the comfort of the JC3 air-conditioned space. Each Tuesday a volunteer facilitator introduces a thought-provoking topic with the intention of generating respectful and illuminating conversation. Join us over cookies, coffee or tea to meet and connect with neighbors and friends. We do ask that participants avoid political topics. To date topics of discussion have included philosophical and sociological discussions of happiness, courage and giving back to our communities.
This week’s topic will be presented by Dr. Daniel Lessner.
Examples of quotes we will be discussing by Epictetus, among others
“No man is free who is not master of himself.
“Who is your master? Anyone who has control over things upon which you’ve set your heart, or over things which you seek to avoid.”
“You are not your body and hair-style, but your capacity for choosing well. If your choices are beautiful, so too will you be.
