Join us in celebrating new and returning Jews to our community
Many local Mexicans have been interested in learning more about Judaism. Frequently they suspected that they were descended from Jews who had been expelled from Spain during the Inquisition. In San Miguel, over 75 Mexicans have converted over the last decade, a process requiring years of study, practice, and worship.
Our Mexican members have greatly enriched our community. Because most are young families, we regularly celebrate weddings, bar mitzvahs, and circumcisions. We have a fledgling religious school to teach the children about Judaism and the Hebrew language. We are blessed to have become a truly multi-cultural and multi-lingual community.
The current class comprises 21 people, including 7 children, mostly from the Bajio, but also includes several from other areas of Mexico.
On December 20th at 6pm, we will welcome the 2022 conversion class as they light the Chanukah candles as new and returning Jews for the first time. Please bring food and beverages to share. Donations are always welcome.
