"The Idiots" is a 1998 Danish film and starring The film follows a group of young adults who, led by a man named Stoffer (Albinus), pretend to be mentally disabled in public as a way to confront societal norms and challenge the boundaries of acceptable behavior.
As the group's experiments become increasingly extreme, tensions rise both within the group and with the outside world. The film explores themes of identity, conformity, and the nature of human connection through its unconventional narrative structure and provocative subject matter. "The Idiots" was the second film in von Trier's "Golden Heart Trilogy," which also includes "Breaking the Waves" (1996) and "Dancer in the Dark" (2000). Following the screening there will be a film analysis and discussion with independent filmmaker and scholar Elías Nahmías who has studied and worked in every aspect of filmmaking .
