Nebraska is a poignant and visually stunning black-and-white drama that tells the story of Woody Grant a stubborn, aging father who believes he’s won a million-dollar sweepstakes. Determined to collect his prize, Woody embarks on a road trip from Montana to Nebraska with his reluctant son David. Along the way, they encounter family, friends, and strangers, leading to moments of humor, heartbreak, and self-discovery.
Nebraska explores themes of family, aging, and the pursuit of dreams, set against the backdrop of America’s rural Midwest. With an outstanding supporting performance from June Squibb and masterful direction by Payne, the film is a touching exploration of life’s small, often overlooked moments. Following the screening there will be a film analysis about and discussion with independent filmmaker and scholar Elías Nahmías who has studied and worked in every aspect of filmmaking.
