Why *Persepolis? A Film That Opens a Window onto Iran

Join us for a screening of Persepolis, Marjane Satrapi’s acclaimed animated film that brings Iran’s modern history to life through one unforgettable personal story. Told with wit, warmth, and striking black-and-white animation, Persepolis follows a young girl growing up during the Iranian Revolution and its aftermath—capturing the humor, heartbreak, rebellion, and resilience of everyday life.

Whether you know a lot about Iran or very little, the film offers an accessible, thought-provoking way to understand how global events shape private lives—and how identity survives upheaval.

Come watch, laugh, reflect, and leave with a richer, more nuanced understanding of Iran and the people who live its history. Discussion will be facilitated by Anne Kornfeld, Media Arts Educator. ( Film is in French with English subtitles)

*Persepolis-an ancient city located in present-day Iran.
