Cooking Class: Sushi/Maki with B.C. Gee - LIMITED TO 7 PEOPLE

  • JC3/Chesma 47 Calle De Las Moras San Miguel de Allende, Gto., 37700 Mexico (map)

 Cooking Class: Sushi/ Maki

You don't have to be a Sushi Master to make Sushi at home.  All you need is a good sushi rice recipe, reasonable dexterity, and a few essential Asian pantry items.

Maki is a specific type of sushi characterized by rice and fillings wrapped in seaweed (nori) into a cylinder and sliced, making it a "rolled" sushi. Sushi is the broader, encompassing category of any dish featuring vinegared rice. While all maki is sushi, not all sushi (e.g., nigiri, sashimi) is maki.

Class Description:

The class will be 3 hours which will include introduction to the class topic and review of recipes. We will learn the difference between Sushi and Maki. We will practice making Maki rolls, California rolls, Nigiri and Temaki. We will prepare a simple miso soup and Takuan pickles to round out our group meal at the end of the class.

Please bring an apron and at least one knife you are comfortable using to the class session.
