The Letters Project - The Best of....

As promised since our most recent reading in January 2025, The Letters Project people are back to darken the doorsteps of the Jewish Cultural and Community Center of San Miguel de Allende (JC3), with something truly special. Yes, after a year of feverish work, involving much careful scrutiny, intense deliberation, and a surprisingly low amount of bloodshed, the Letters folks are pleased to announce the result of our Herculean labors - The Letters Project - THE BEST OF… - a powerful collection of audience favorites from Letters of Notes performances I, II and III.

Whether you have attended one, two or all three of our previous readings, seeing and hearing these extraordinary letters brought to life on the stage is a theatrical event like no other. And when performed by The Letters Project’s intrepid crew, Lee Duberman, Richard Fink, Steve Garfinkel and Gene Harvey, this new collection - The Letters Project - THE BEST OF… is an experience one you won’t want to miss.

The reading consists of a mix of noteworthy letters selected from the two-volume set, “Letters of Note: Correspondence Deserving of a Wider Audience,” collected by Sean Usher. Some are written to or by famous figures from the worlds of literary, artistic, theatrical, political or scientific endeavor, as well as some by folks you’ve never heard of. With some funny, some tragic, some carrying advice or amazing perspectives, or some that just allow you to be a “fly-on-the wall” as figures from history speak from the heart to a friend or lover, the totality of the evening makes for a fascinating experience in the theater

The letters in the Project have been culled and assembled by veteran SMA theater stars Lee Duberman and Richard Fink, in conjunction with JC3’s Steve Garfinkel. Joining the Duberman/Finks onstage for the readings are actors Gene Harvey and S. Garfinkel.
